Liposuction For Men

by admin

Traditionally, when you think of a liposuction patient you think of a woman, and while it is true that the ratio of women to men is greater, men are quickly becoming more comfortable with liposuction surgery and other cosmetic surgical procedures. Liposuction for men in fact, has become so popular in some areas that men are overtaking women, especially in countries like India. However, liposuction for men is still something that many guys are uncomfortable with, mostly because of a lack of information. We will try to explain some of the fact and myths about liposuction for men here.

Most potential male patients first ask if the procedure is safe. While liposuction is not 100 percent safe, it is not due to the liposuction itself, but to the general anesthesia that patients must be put under in order to undergo the procedure. It bears the same risks as any other invasive surgical procedures under general anesthesia. Liposuction surgery involves using a tube to vacuum out fatty deposits. The procedure has a few side effects, mainly scarring and damage to the tissues from the incision and surgery itself, but holds no more risk than say, an appendectomy under general anesthesia.

In our current time, there are new lipo procedures that are less invasive and are less risky, since they don’t require the patient undergoing general anesthesia to have the surgery done. One of these procedures is laser liposuction and it is performed with local anesthesia. Another benefit in having a laser lipo procedure in contrast to traditional liposuction is that the skin folds that generally exist after a liposuction procedure aren’t a factor. Laser liposuction tightens up the skin at the same time, whereas with conventional liposuction, there may need to be a second surgical procedure to remove the folds of skin left over. This can make abdominal liposuction for men an attractive option.

The cost of liposuction for men will be the same as that for women and will be dependent on a number of variables: region, doctor, and area (such as abdominal, arm, chin) being worked on. The main thing is to talk to your doctor (who have to maintain privacy of the patient) and figure out the total of costs.
